We have been struggling with the terrible twos at my house lately. Landon deliberately doesn't listen to me and then asks me "is that funny momma?" Oh my. Does that get under my skin. In addition to that, we have totally regressed in the potty training department. I was told that this would happen and it is just really discouraging. I feel like Landon will never be trained in time for preschool in August and that time is just ticking away. I just have to remind myself what my dear friend told me, "You don't see any 10 year olds that aren't potty trained, do you? He will get there." Over the weekend, Landon pooed in the potty twice which was great, but then he turned around and peed on the floor on purpose. Twice. So frustrating. And of course he thinks it is super funny. Sigh.
We had Parents as Teachers last night. It went really well like it always does. Landon made us very proud. He was sweet and showed off his abilities to identify colors and shapes. We discussed with our teacher the issues we had been having with Landon and she had wonderful suggestions for us. She suggested that we back off on the potty training for a few months because it has become a game for Landon and he is not really interested in going potty on the potty correctly. Her saying that was like a weight lifted off my shoulders. A break will be nice. It just irks me when people say, "He is still in diapers?" or "Isn't he potty trained yet?" As if we aren't trying to accomplish that! Ugh! Some kids are just slower to get there and Landon appears to be one of those kiddos. I don't want to push him when he isn't ready. She also had some suggestions for time outs and giving Landon options/choices in regards to decision making.
I know this is just a phase, but it can be so upsetting and I feel like all I do is yell at Landon, which makes me feel like an awful momma. Do other parents experience things similar? How do you handle your toddlers when they are behaving poorly? Any tips for this momma?
Thanks! :)

Oh sweets. You know...parenting is so hard at any stage. Thing is, other moms just don't tell you about it and that's really sad. We should be telling each other that parenting sucks sometimes so that we all feel better about knowing we are not the only ones.
Just be patient. Walk away when you need to. They know how to push your buttons.
As far as all that potty training business goes, you have to let them do it on their own time. And then be consistent with it. That helps tremendously
It does get better. Promise
Oh honey, let me tell you a secret ;) they will be potty trained when they are ready- not earlier... not when you are ready...not when society thinks they are ready...just when their sweet little body is ready. For Norah and Bella we tried too early, and after accident after accident...gave in and let them tell us- worked like a charm! Both were potty trained for pre school- but at their own pace :)
